Sugar Bytes • Obscurium question

I've been diving deeply into Obscurium lately, having a wonderful time.

Question: When using VSTi-s instead of the internal instrument, I am not getting the chords or sequences that I hear with the internal oscillators. Does Obscurium only activate the bass note of the sequence/chord, or is there a setting I am missing that will play VSTi-s polyphonically?
