I’m sure this has been talked about a lot before but I haven’t found much regarding this specific sample…
I was recently tasked with remixing a tune for a mates band to put in a “deluxe” EP which will be out on DSPs etc - very happy with the finished track - sent it over, and their label is asking weather there are any samples that need clearing…
The main groove in my remix revolves around a sliced up think break (“woos” included![:)]( "Smile")
- no “yehs” ![:(]( "Sad")
) the sample is re-pitched and sliced into a new drum pattern but it’s obviously recognisable (kinda the point).
I’m primarily a Bandcamp user and get the impression that it’s a bit of a free for all when it comes to classic drum and bass samples here - I’ve even released other tracks with this break on there before, but obviously this is going to be on Spotify etc and I don’t know how likely it is that it’ll be flagged up.
What are people’s thoughts/experiences on this? Also interested if anyone’s managed to clear a sample like this before and what the process is?
